"Digital grusväg" is an electronic journal in Swedish. It has been published on the Internet
since 1996, adhering to its vision to illuminate the obscurities of unknown fields of science.
The Swedish term "Digital grusväg" means digital gravelling road or digital dirt road.
It represents the opposite of the Information Highway, and it's inner spirit reflects our deeply felt
respect for internet communication, as well as our sound skepticism as to its role in the progress of mankind.
From time to time, we have visitors from foreign countries. We suspect that these visitors may not necessarily possess the fluency in Swedish to appreciate "Digital grusväg" at its fullest. This fills us with sorrow, and we would like to improve our efforts to fulfill another of our visions, namely to present a digest in English every now and then. Sometimes, in our darkest moods, we even consider the remote possibility that these visitors never meant to visit us, but rather were misguided by search engines blind to the subtleties of human communication on the internet. The most likely (in terms of semantics) concept that these visitors were really looking for is the "Digital grisvåg", i.e. the device on which one would measure the weight of small domestic animals without representation in the physical world. We do not know much of this apparatus, but it may exist and it may have a practical implication on someone's life somewhere. Let us therefore extend a universal greeting to our visitors from Finland, the Russian Federation, the Old Style Arpanet (wherever located), Malaysia, Germany. The Editorial Board Go back... |
